Myths
1. Joining a large fraternity is the most logical choice. In some cases that may be true, but there is a bigger picture to be looked at. KE provides many networking opportunities that the school's students have enjoyed for decades. In addition the school prides itself on its student involvement and having a diverse balance of fraternities to cater to different students is key to it's strength. As strong as an individual group is, it's strength and contribution to the school cannot compare with those of the collective of fraternities. |
2. If I don't join a fraternity my first year, I won't have time to pledge later on. Students have completed the pledge processes successfully up to as late as their third year. You will have at least a year or two more to join a fraternity if you really want, but it is never too early to start making connections. 3. Fraternities may not be worth my time and money. We would never presume to know better than you the best use of your time and money. For the most part we are asking for an investment of your time to help us rebuild KE. In time we hope that you will come to realize that the professional connections and experiences gained through this membership are a sizable return on your investment. KE membership fees are not our focus this year. We need your assistance more than anything. You will have the option to pay for national KE benefits at your own leisure. By offering to help our cause, you are already considered a fraternal brother of our chapter. |
FAQs
1. What if I don't think fraternities are for me?
A: Many of us thought that at one time or another, but pharmacy fraternities are different from the social fraternities you may have
encountered in undergrad. A professional pharmacy fraternity is about having another network of friends that can help you navigate the
pharmacy world. With the increasing number of pharmacy schools popping up, regardless of your age, it is ever more important to stay competitive
but also to know people that can open doors for you. KE can provide you the job connections you may need in the future much like ASHP and APhA
but with added elements of camaraderie and pride intertwined.
2. How is your group's pledging process?
A: We believe that everybody deserves to be treated with dignity. As a small group, your membership is priceless.
This is especially true this year as our group's survival along with its nearly 60 year old legacy at UH hinges on your class's aid. In lending a hand to
our group's cause, we are in your debt. As such we will work hard to demonstrate that we are deserving of your patronage. The pledge process this
year is about shaping a new beginning for KE. It is important to learn from our fraternity's past mistakes but to keep true to KE's roots. Our brothers
have been leaders in almost every single other pharmacy student organization as well as taken active roles in the state and national level organizations.
We offer to help you develop your leadership skills using these unique experiences of our group.
3. How much are the member fees?
A: We want to know that there is someone to carry on KE's traditions and work when we are gone.
National KE fees are not set by us. However, together we can make them more manageable through fundraising.
Chapter fees will be set by the pledges in your class. How your money is used to run KE will ultimately be up to you and your peers.
We are here to be your guides and offer you the boon of our experiences.
